"Arieh King threatened, and the Jerusalem Municipality delays budget"
Deputy Mayor King threatened to resign from the coalition over budget transfer to Bar-Kayma Association
Bar-Kayma [meaning “sustainability”] Association for Culture, Art, Music and Peace fosters creative groups, projects and independent organizations in the Jerusalem cultural field.
From the initial stages of forming ideas until its realization and the establishment of sustainable activity, organization, and economic models, Bar-Kayma for Culture, Art, Music and Peace provides a legal, economic, organizational, and marketing infrastructure for the development and promotion of new and innovative forms of expression and joint organization, while reducing the damage of bureaucracy that sometimes strangle the creative field, alongside strengthening managerial, professional capabilities, and compliance with standards - all of which provide its members with tools to establish both creative and organizational independence. Among the organizations and initiatives operating under its support, fruitful collaborations exist that establish a web of knowledge and a network of support that is always open to joining, growing, and thriving together.
Bar-Kayma for Culture has been operating in Jerusalem for over a decade, and has had a significant impact on the development of independent culture in the city: over 60 active groups and cultural initiatives operate in the association, the Ministry of Culture supports about twenty fields of activities: Mazkeka and Zikuk Festival, Barbur Gallery, Jerusalem Street Orchestra, Lyric-Opera Studio and Festival, Jerusalem Chamber Choir, Nuria Ensemble, Bel Canto Ensemble, , Pulkes band, The Jerusalem Chamber Choir the Jerusalem Vocal Consort, Erev-Rav Art Magazine, the Mussach - Literature Magazine, and more. The association conducts ongoing support, training and enrichment programs, which include professional training and practical courses for cultural institutions and independent entrepreneurs, as well as one-time workshops and lectures.
