Bar-Kayma [Sustainability] for Culture, Art, Music and Peace is a non-profit organization which fosters art and culture initiatives in and from Jerusalem, we create a protected and supportive environment for the establishment and operation of group and multidisciplinary projects with the aim of establishing Jerusalem as a center for significant, contemporary and relevant creative endeavors for local culture and art, that stimulates discourse and connects people, communities and cultures.

Our Approach
We work to minimize the damage of bureaucracy on culture and art by sharing knowledge, establishing organizational infrastructures, and developing tools for independent and collaborative management, while providing administrative, production, legal, organizational, and marketing support.

Initiative managers join as members of the association, and receive support from the idea stage to establishing a stable, independent, and sustainable community, organizational, and economic model.

What we do

Each initiative operates as an independent unit operating in a closed and separate economy, in an organizational infrastructure that encourages collaboration, resources and knowledge. The association's infrastructure allows it to raise funding from diverse sources - receiving recognized donations according to Section 46A, receiving public support from the Ministry of Culture - about twenty supports in a variety of art fields, and from the Jerusalem Municipality, which supports seven of our institutions, (out of about a hundred in all of Jerusalem). Together, we maintain joint community, organizational and economic frameworks that encourage entrepreneurship and solidarity, and allow initiatives to establish themselves and flourish.

Today, we have over sixty initiatives operating with us, producing hundreds of events a year for an audience of tens of thousands of Jerusalem residents and visitors, and in a constantly changing reality, we continue to grow and develop communities and good spirits in and from the city.

How to join us?

Our goal is to create a local arts and culture community that creates and is active on an ongoing basis and for the long term, while establishing Jerusalem as a national and international cultural center.

If you have an initiative in the fields of art, culture, music or peace, operating and based in Jerusalem or with an affiliation to it, you are invited to send information about the goals of the initiative and its members, an annual program and short and long-term goals, and we will be happy to schedule a meeting to examine compatibility.

We do not accept one-time, short-term or projects that are not based in, or have an affiliation to, the city and communities of Jerusalem, but we would be happy to hear from you in any case and see how we can collaborate.
