Ensemble Bet Hagat is a new ensemble specializing in early Jewish music. The ensemble is based at Bet Hagat, a center for interreligious dialogue, thought and culture in Ein Karem, Jerusalem.
The premiere performance of 'Illumination-Jewish Italian Spiritual Music’ is a unique international cooperation which sheds light onto the mesmerizing and largely unknown musical legacy of Italian Jewry.
'Illumination' presents Jewish Italian spiritual music from the renaissance and baroque periods, as well as early 'piyyutim' (liturgical poems) and prayers from the Italian Jewish musical tradition, performed on period instruments.
